Giving a promoter their own coupon code is an effective way to track which promoter is driving sales, offer their audience a discount, and reward them with something to share. This article covers how to set up a code specifically for a promoter's use.
Create a unique code for a specific promoter
- Go to My Events → Live Events and open your event.
- Click Coupons from the action menu.
- Fill in the Coupon Information form:
- Coupon Amount, the discount to offer, for example 10 off the ticket price.
- How Many (quantity), how many times this code can be used. For a promoter with a large following, set this to the expected number of redemptions.
- Coupon Type, select General for a single code the promoter shares publicly, or Unique to generate a batch of individual single-use codes the promoter can distribute one per person.
- Validity until, set an expiry date matching your ticket sale window.
- Click Submit.
Your code will appear in the coupon list. Share it directly with the promoter.
Using codes to track promoter performance
By giving each promoter a distinct code, you can see how many times each code has been used in My Events → Live Events → Coupons → Manage Coupons. This shows you which promoters are driving the most sales.
Combining codes with affiliate links
For maximum tracking, give each promoter both a unique coupon code (for the discount) and their ShowRave referral link (for commission tracking). Buyers who use both get a discount, and the promoter earns commission on the sale. See How to create an affiliate link for your event.
