A free ticket allows attendees to register for your event at no cost. Buyers go through a simplified checkout with no payment step and receive a QR code ticket by email. There are no fees for the organiser or the attendee on free tickets.
Create a free ticket tier
Free tickets use the same form as any other ticket tier. The only difference is the price field.
- Open the ticket creation form, either on the Tickets & AddOns step when creating an event, or from My Events → Live Events → Manage Tickets on an existing event.
- Enter a name in the Ticket Name field, for example "General Admission" or "Free Entry".
- Set Available Tickets to the number of places you want to offer.
- Set the Maximum number of tickets for each customer to limit how many one person can claim.
- Add a Description if needed.
- Enter 0 in the Ticket Price field.
- Click Submit.
The ticket tier will show as free on your event page and buyers will see "Free Ticket" on their ticket confirmation.
What the attendee experience looks like
When a buyer selects a free ticket and proceeds to checkout, they will not be asked for payment details. They confirm their order and receive a QR code ticket by email. They can also find the ticket in the Tickets section of their ShowRave account.
Free events and mixed events
If all your ticket tiers are set to zero, your event is effectively free to attend. You can also mix free and paid tiers on the same event, for example, a free General Admission tier alongside a paid VIP tier.
If you do not add any ticket tiers at all when creating an event, we will create a default free entry ticket automatically.
