The ShowRave Scanner is built to keep working when there is no internet at the venue. It downloads the event's ticket list to the device before the event, so every scan checks a local copy, no live connection needed at the door.
How offline scanning works
When you sync an event, the app downloads the ticket list and saves it on the device. During scanning, each QR code is checked against this saved list instantly. The app does not need an internet connection at the moment of scan.
When a ticket is admitted offline, the app shows the notice: "This admission is saved on this device only until the phone reconnects." The admission is queued and uploads automatically when the phone goes back online.
Sync before you lose signal
Sync the event while you still have a stable connection, ideally before you travel to the venue, or when you first arrive. Once synced, the app continues working through poor signal or no signal for the duration of the event.
The sync expiry date is shown on the event card as "Valid until: {date}". If a sync expires, the app blocks offline scans for that event and asks you to resync.
Uploading saved scans
Scans and admissions taken while offline are saved on the device. When the phone reconnects, they upload automatically. You can also trigger the upload manually from the event list by tapping Upload saved scans.
The Saved count on the door dashboard shows how many scans are waiting to upload.
Upload Review
After uploading saved scans, the Upload review screen shows the results grouped into three categories:
- Valid, scans accepted and recorded by ShowRave
- Needs review, scans that need attention, for example where the ticket was already admitted on another device
- Invalid, scans rejected because the ticket was transferred, refunded, cancelled, or belongs to a different event
Review the list after the event to identify any issues with offline admissions.
Multiple devices offline
Each device queues its own offline scans independently. If two devices admit the same ticket while both are offline, the second upload is flagged as Already admitted in the upload review. This does not cause a problem at the door, the app shows the ticket as admitted once either device comes online.
